Why MapLight Therapeutics Chose Flex Databases’ CTMS and eTMF

MapLight Therapeutics selected Flex Databases to support its clinical trial operations with an integrated CTMS and eTMF platform. In this interview, the MapLight team shares why they chose Flex Databases, which features stood out during the evaluation process, and how the platform will support efficient trial oversight and long-term clinical operations.

What were the key factors that lead MapLight Therapeutics to choose Flex Databases over other eClinical providers?

We liked the fact that Flex Databases offers an integrated CTMS and eTMF system, as it means less overall work to implement and manage.

How does MapLight Therapeutics anticipate Flex Databases’ system to impact the management and efficiency of your clinical trials?

We believe Flex Database’s platform will give us a central repository of information across our studies and programs that will allow us to best oversee our studies from startup to closeout. We leverage CROs in our drug development activities, but having Flex Databases’ platform will allow us to easily have real-time access to our data. In addition, this strategy enables us to use our own CTMS for monitoring activities.

Were there any features in Flex Databases’ TMF and CTMS systems that MapLight Therapeutics found particularly compelling?

The Flex Databases’ TMF functionality filled some gaps that our prior system left, such as duplicate document detection and QC reporting. On the CTMS side, the configurability of the system will allow us to get the exact data we need at all times.

What are the specific challenges that MapLight Therapeutics was facing that led them to seek out new TMF and CTMS? How does Flex Databases’ solution address these challenges?

We are looking for turnkey GDPR compliance. Given Flex Database’s strong GDPR compliance measures, the move to the Flex Databases platform will support MapLight in meeting our regulatory responsibilities for maintaining privacy of research participants.

What are MapLight Therapeutics’ expectations regarding the support and service from Flex Databases during the implementation phase and beyond?

We expect a collaborative team that will teach us all aspects of the system and guide us in proper configuration to meet our information management needs. We also expect short term follow up for questions or re-training as we begin using the system.

How do you see Flex Databases contributing to your long-term clinical operations strategy?

The Flex Database platform will provide a great source of historical information that will enable us to plan new trials effectively.

In your view, what makes a vendor a long-term partner rather than just a service provider?

We look for vendor teams that are supportive, proactive, and willing to listen to and act on the feedback.

AI in Trial Master File management has quietly stopped being a someday idea. It’s not a pilot and it’s not a roadmap promise – it’s something clinical teams reach for on an ordinary Tuesday. The interesting part isn’t that AI can file a document; it’s how calmly and predictably it does it now – with […]
